These shears are handcrafted in Japan using traditional forging techniques.
The back of the blade features a hollow-ground groove.
By creating this concave shape on the back of the blade, the upper and lower blades make contact at specific points rather than across a flat surface. This design minimizes frictional resistance during cutting, ensuring a smooth action that reduces fatigue during prolonged use.
Additionally, the groove acts as a channel for the discharge of sap and cutting debris—substances that often cause stress during work. This prevents the blades from sticking or jamming, ensuring smooth opening and closing even in demanding conditions.
